RE: What’s M_ss_ng in Your M_rk_t_ng?

Hope your September’s
off to a rousing start.

As we wrap up the third
quarter, now’s a good time
to get in shape for the 2007 kick-off.

So, let’s take a quick
marketing pulse check,
okay <$firstname$>?

Rate the following from
1 (totally disagree) –
5 (completely agree).

Here we go:

1. Our sales are on track.

2. Our clients tell us they love us.

3. Our marketing investments
have a high rate of return.

4. We know what works and
we know what we’re doing.

5. We survey our clients regularly
to find out how we can serve them better.

6. We partner with other companies
and organizations to promote our
companion’s message and receive
referrals in return.

7. We send video email and
post videos on our site.

8. We have more than one URL
to target audiences and pick
up search engine traffic.

9. We memorize our keywords
and use them in all of our
marketing efforts.

10. Our pages rank high in
Google searches.

11. We communicate where our
clients get their information –
on cell phones and computer screens.

12. Our direct mail postcard
campaigns out perform our expectations.

13. Our client’s testimonials support
our branding and our key client objectives.

14. We have a core team of inside
and outsourced key communicators.

15. Our logo identity is strong and effective.

16. Our communications refresh and
remix every day – or at least once a week.

17. We track our media hits and can
tick off the stats without looking them up.

18. Our press releases reach journalists,
search engines, trade publications
and consumers.

19. We know where we’re going
and we know how to get there.

20. We engage a trusted marketing
advisor to help us leap across the
internal chasms and external boundaries
we can’t see or vault over on our own.

Since school’s back in session,
let’s go with a familiar scoring system:

A 90-100
B 80-89
C 70-79
D 60-69

So, how’d you do, <$firstname$>?

Even if you didn’t keep score,
I hope this quiz stirred your thinking –
and your actions.

Now that your brain is spinning,
take a moment to hit reply
and tell me about your
biggest marketing challenge.

And, if you’re really feeling
woozy, we’ll mix up the
perfect creative cocktail
for you.

Hey there <$firstname$>:

Hope this Friday finds you
celebrating a productive week.

How did you feel when you
read today’s subject line?

This week, let’s talk about
how to become a
marketing genius.

You have two routes, <$firstname$>:
outsource your marketing
to a trusted advisor or
study how to become a
marketing genius
on your own.

Studying and accomplishing
any skill takes time, effort and
sometimes money.

But you know that, <$firstname$>.

Because it’s always evolving
and there are so many
fascinating facets,
studying and implementing
marketing can easily
become a part-time job.

Here’s how I decide what to study:

*Who do you want to hear from?
Once you find a leader you like,
follow them and
read everything
they write.
It’s easier to stick with
one system than to try to
fuse many pieces together.
Right now, I’m using Codename Catalyst
for my Panoramic PR launch.

*What do you need to know?
Tie this one to your goals:
build brand awareness,
drive sales, etc.
As an AM2Gold member,
I’m immediately connected
with other Internet-based
business owners and joint
venture opportunities, which
fulfills my goal to develop an
information product sector.

*When do you need the
knowledge?
Timing is everything.
Although some decisions
can be made in a few
minutes, larger initiatives
require days or months
worth of research.
Learn what you need to
know before your need it.

*Where do you want to
get the knowledge?
Options here range from
a few hours with an
expert to seminars to
reading articles online.
RSS feeds consolidate
all I want to know in
one place at Google
reader. By the way,
our blog now has an
RSS email feed. Enter
your email address and
you’ll get our posts as soon
as they go up. Sign up at
www.mtnlive.com.

Marketing IQ Boost #2:
Virtual Seminar Week
November 10-17
Live at <$firstname$>’s House

With an astounding 35 speakers
lined up, you can listen only
to those you like or dial in
for them all – plan to take
the week off with
the latter option.

Because the tuition fee is under
$100 and there’s no travel
required, this boost
is a bargain.

Check out the speaker line up
on my blog at:
http://corywest.typepad.com/mtn/2006/09/virtual_seminar.html

Or go directly to the site
and claim your $50 savings at
http://virtualseminarweekprelaunch.com/?x=754409
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Why are you motivated to learn?
Having a purpose makes for
a more enjoyable experience.
Taking Teleseminar Secrets
showed me how to set up
and run a successful new business.
Completing the National Speakers
Association Candidate University
equipped me with skills and
contacts in professional
speaking circles.
*How will you use your
newfound knowledge?
Before your sign up for
any course, listen to a
teleseminar or even
read an article online,
be sure that knowing
this information will
take you towards your
goal and is relevant to
your overall business plan.
If you need more
information on either
of the Marketing Boosts
we mentioned today,
send me an email.
Post a comment on our
blog at: www.mtnlive.com.
Here’s to finding your
true marketing genius,
<$firstname$>.
Cheers~
Barbara
Talk Like a Pirate Day: PR takeaways
Posted by barbararozgonyi on September 19, 2006
Proving that anything can be celebrated, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day.
According to the  Talk Like a Pirate web site, "Talk Like A Pirate Day is an original concept created in a moment of temporary insanity by John Baur and Mark Summers."
These blokes broke into the Yahoo! home page today. And, shiver me timbers!, someone’s hoisted up a Pirate Video.
What’s the PR lesson here?
Silly wins. Silly gets links. Silly is fun. Silly snags promos in other places. Silly is viral. Silly gets newscasters to talk like pirates. Silly gets the gold.
That’s the pirate piece.
Social media loves viral stuff.
So do the search engines – and the media.
A search on Google News Talk Like a Pirate Stories brings up 310 stories.
Then there’s the website and the video.
Check out how everyone from hospitals to kindergarten teachers plan to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day.
In the unlikely event you don’t know how to talk like a pirate, the site tells you how to talk like a pirate.
Anyone can proclaim any day an international day and get free publicity. If these guys can, you can, too. Here’s how.
Think of something fun, silly and easy to do – like talk like a pirate – that goes with your brand and attracts attention. Obviously, imitating the mates from the Golden Pearl is best ventured with others who appreciate a pirate’s life.
Or, declare a day of education, awareness, action, recognition or remembrance that coincides with your services, products or organization’s initiatives.
Yesterday, September 18 was National Woman Road Warrior Day. According to the site this is a, "Day of recognition for the nation’s traveling businesswomen, who now account for nearly 50% of America’s workforce: of the 38.3 million business travelers in the U.S. in 2004, almost half were women."
Although I am occasionally a woman road warrior, I am not a pirate. But I can talk like one.
How to Record Audio and Podcasts
Posted by barbararozgonyi on September 19, 2006
Adding audio to web sites is a proven way to convert more traffic, close more sales and build trust.
Here’s how to record and post audio to your site, your email, your blog, your podcast, etc. . . .
Audio Acrobat (30 day free trial/$19.95 per month) simplifies the process with an intuitive interface that allows you to easily record audio or video. Recording audio using your phone is as easy as leaving a voicemail message. When you’re finished recording,  you choose how to publish the file. Options include downloading the file to your computer (recommended), generating HTML for a website or newsletter, getting a text link or redirecting the user to a site to download.
Thinking of podcasting? This service even publishes your podcast for you.  Here’s an Audio Acrobat recording I made a few minutes ago. Click the link to listen.
As you advance, you may want to download Audacity‘s free audio editing tools.
Do you host teleseminars? Check out  Audio Acrobat’s conference call recording guide.
